Source: Priest allegedly ‘touched girl’s hair’ in incident at Joliet church

The Diocese of Joliet has canceled the tour of a relic following an incident involving a priest and several students. Queen of Apostles was hosting a visit of a relic of St. Jude on Thursday, November 21 when the incident took place. The tour and the relic were overseen by a priest with the Companions of the Cross, an Order of priests in Canada. An incident with the priest and some students was reported to have happened at the church.

WJOL has been told that the incident allegedly involved the priest touching a girl’s hair followed by an inappropriate comment.

In a statement to the public, the church says that they immediately contacted the police and an investigation is on-going. Bishop Ronald Hicks canceled the relic’s scheduled tour within the Diocese of Joliet and informed Canada’s Superior of the Companions of the Cross Order of priests of the incident.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned to WJOL for the latest updates.
