Lockport Township Fire In One Story Home

On Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 0539hrs the Lockport Township Fire Protection District responded to a possible fire in the wall in the 22200 block of Taylor Rd in unincorporated
Plainfield Township.

Fire companies arrived to find a small, one story residence with light smoke showing. A hose line was deployed, and the crew found a working fire in the kitchen that was quickly brought
under control. One of the occupants reported hearing a popping sound and when she went to the kitchen to investigate, she noticed smoke coming from the wall. She immediately alerted the
other occupants, and all were able to safely evacuate.

The home sustained considerable damage leaving it uninhabitable. No injuries were reported but the Red Cross was called in to assist the five adults and six children with their needs.
The fire was upgraded to a General Alarm which brought in coverage from Bolingbrook, East Joliet, Romeoville, and Troy Fire Departments while the Lockport companies worked at the
scene for about an hour and a half.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental but is currently under investigation by the Lockport Fire Investigators.
