Honoring the memory of Veterans who lost their lives due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with an unveiling of a new memorial. The public is invited to pay tribute to Forgotten Warriors at the Channahon State Park at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 11th. Mike Tellerino, CEO of K9s for Veterans says there needed to be a memorial for veterans who lost their battle with PTSD.
K9s for Veterans mission is to help veterans with post traumatic stress disorder transition back to civilian life once their military service has ended with the help of trained service dogs. But Saturday’s event is to honor those that lost their battle with PTSD.
The Forgotten Warrior Memorial Liberty Motorcycle Run lines up at 9:30 and begins at Chi-Town Harley on LaGrange Road in Tinley Park and rides to the Forgotten Warrior Memorial on Canal at the Channahon State Park where the Memorial will be unveiled. Two Gold Star mothers will speak at the event. The project cost 180-thousand dollars with money donated from VFW Posts and American Legion Posts, Celtic Landscaping and Ozinga are just some of the organizations who contributed to the memorial. Will County State’s Attorney Jim Glasgow will attend.
Tellerino says “it’s important to give these families some recognition and closure for the loss they have suffered.”
