Pritzker Announces Plan To Legalize Cannabis By January 2020

Illinois lawmakers are taking a big step forward toward legalizing marijuana in the state. Governor JB Pritzker announced plans on Saturday to legalize marijuana as soon as January 1, 2020. Pritzker was joined by legislators, state police, and leaders in the cannabis industry in making the announcement. The proposed plan would legalize cannabis for anyone over 21 years old. It would also clear the records of people with minor marijuana convictions and provide funding for communities with discriminatory drug policies.
