New Omicron Subvariant Detected In Illinois

The new Omicron subvariant is present in Illinois. A case of COVID-19 involving the subvariant was detected in the state for the first time over the weekend by Northwestern Medicine. The subvariant was found in a person who was tested January 18th. The subvariant is thought to be more transmissible than the current omicron variant now dominant in the U.S.
