Pair of Alleged Copper Thieves Arrested in Joliet
Two individuals have been arrested in connection to a residential burglary in Joliet. It was on Saturday November 2nd that Joliet Police responded to a call in the 300 block of N. Chicago Street in reference to an apartment building that had recently seen several copper pipes cut and removed from the premises. As a result of this action, water was spraying throughout the theft site and caused additional damage to the apartment building. Officers were able to locate 29-year-old Kendale Coleman and 28-year-old Joseph Slussar in the 900 block of E. Washington Street. Officers were searching for the two as they were seen next to the building just prior to the burglary. Coleman and Slussar had a bag that contained copper pipes and one of the suspects had wet clothes. Officers were able to determine that the copper pipes came from the apartment building and both subjects were arrested and charged with Residential Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property. Slussar also received an additional charged for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
