Braidwood Plant and Others May Close Early

Exelon has stated they may close three of their Illinois plants early. The energy company stated in a recent filing with SEC that they may close their nuclear power stations in Byron, Braidwood and Dresden early. All three facilities are licensed through the 2040s but could close early. The facilities also have power commitments through 2021 so the facilities could not close until those commitments are full filled. State Lawmakers Sue Rezin and David Welter, who represent the possibly effected areas, have already requested a meeting with Exelon officials to discuss ways to keep the facilities open.
