First Degree Murder Arrest Tracks Suspect To Indiana
Joliet police investigation of a murder leads to Indiana and the arrest of a Joliet teen being held on $5-million bond.
On June 6, 2023, at 10:18 AM, Officers responded to the 600 block of East Benton Street for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Officers located a 20-year-old male in the street who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Officers on the scene immediately provided medical assistance until the arrival of Joliet Fire Department Paramedics. The victim was transported to Silver Cross Hospital by the Joliet Fire Department where he was pronounced deceased. A crime scene was secured, and Detectives initiated an investigation of this shooting. The shooting was investigated as an isolated incident.
Throughout their investigation, Joliet Police Detectives identified 18 year old Emilio Aldape of Joliet as a suspect in this murder. On June 9, 2023, Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Aldape for two counts of First-Degree Murder. A Will County Judge set a bond of $5 million.
On July 5, 2023, Aldape was taken into custody at a gas station in South Bend, Indiana by members of the US Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and he was held at the St. Joseph County Jail in South Bend. Aldape was then transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility during the early morning hours of July 12, 2023, he’s charged with First Degree Murder (2 Counts).
