Former Illinois Governor James Thompson Dies

Former Illinois Republican Governor James Thompson has died. Thompson was known as “Big Jim” and was the state’s longest-serving governor, holding the office from 1977 to 1991. Current Governor J.B. Pritzker said over the weekend that Thompson “dedicated himself to building positive change for Illinois.” Thompson was 84.
