Thousands of state of Illinois workers are about to get a raise. Governor J.B. Pritzker used his first full day in office yesterday to sign an executive order that gives state employees their step raises. Those are pay increases based on longevity. Pritzker is not saying how much his order will cost. But the governor’s office says the order does not cover the hundreds of millions-of-dollars that state workers say they’re owed from when Bruce Rauner was governor.
