Illinois Chief Justice Seeks Bump In Judicial Funding From State

Illinois’ chief justice of the Supreme Court is seeking an increase in judicial funding from the state. Chief Justice Lloyd Karmeier asked lawmakers last week for a 23 percent jump in funds in separate appearances before a House and Senate budget panel. The judiciary has received a flat budget of almost 345 million dollars each of the five previous years.
