Lincoln-Way District 210 Superintendent Releases Statement On Students Wearing Blackface
Lincoln-Way School District 210 Superintendent Dr. Scott Tingley released a statement to WJOL regarding white students wearing blackface. Tingley says, “On Saturday, the Lincoln-Way 210 School Resource Officer was in contact with the Mokena Police Department. Any questions regarding the alleged incident should be directed to the police.”
The Mokena Police Department received a complaint Saturday that a few teens were wearing blackface masks at the Speedway gas station at Wolf Road and Front Street. Photos of the suspected teens were shared on social media over the weekend. The incident comes a week after images of several white Homewood-Flossmoor students wearing blackface sparked outrage and led to a student walkout. It’s not clear which school the students attended in the District.
