New Lenox police officers arrest suspected murderer wanted in Griffith, Indiana. New Lenox Police Officers learned of a homicide which had occurred in Griffith, Indiana on Wednesday May 15th. At 2 a.m. NLPD Officers received information that the suspect, 41-year-old Juan Guerrero, maybe be visiting a friend in New Lenox, and that he may be driving a blue, 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo.

At approximately 2:17 a.m, Officer David Nykiel located the vehicle travelling on Lincoln Highway approaching I-80. Officer Nykiel, assisted by Officer Andrew Dowding and Officer Andrew Johnston, conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver, Guerrero from Griffith, Indiana, was taken into custody without incident. A 9mm semi-automatic pistol was recovered from the passenger side floorboard of the vehicle. Lake County Sheriff’s Department Investigators were notified and arrived at the NLPD to continue their investigation.

On Thursday, May 16th, the Lake County Sherriff’s Department obtained a warrant for Juan Guerrero for the offense of Murder. Guerrero was then transferred from the NLPD to the Will County Adult Detention Facility pending extradition to Indiana.
