R. Kelly must pay nearly 175-thousand dollars in back rent and other costs by early next week in order to avoid being evicted from his recording studio on Chicago’s Near West Side. Court documents show the embattled R&B superstar owes 167-thousand dollars in rent, 61-hundred dollars in attorneys’ fees and 780 dollars in court costs in a lawsuit filed in July by the owners of a warehouse building in the 200 block of North Justine Street. The Grammy winner has until next Monday to pay Midwest Commercial Funding. The studio has come under scrutiny in recent weeks since the airing of a Lifetime docuseries that detailed decades of sexual abuse allegations against Kelly.
