A fundraiser for an historic church in Joliet this weekend after suffering damage from a storm last year. The roof of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church leaked so badly in July 2021 that it crashed into the Sanctuary. The repairs plus a new roof cost over 250-thousand dollars. St. Peter has been a staple of Joliet for now 165 year. Treasurer of the church, Steve Kapella hopes people can join them this Saturday, October 15th for a family fun day. There will all sorts of games from bags to euchre.
The Congregation was formed in 1867 and the current building was dedicated in 1884. The fundraiser is Saturday, October 15th from 1 to 6pm and it will be held in the parking lot across from the Church located at 310 N. Broadway.
