Will County Officers Save Lives Of Teens Following Shooting In Unincorporated University Park

It was in the early morning hours on Saturday, October 7th that Will County Sheriff’s Officers responded to the 2200 block of W. Wolpers Road in Unincorporated University Park for a call of shots fired. Responding deputies were advised that there were multiple gunshot victims inside of the residence.

Once deputies arrived, they located three teen males that were each shot multiple times. Deputies began to immediately render aid to the victims by providing life saving measures. Deputies applied tourniquets and chest seals to the three individuals in order to control blood loss. In addition, deputies located several individuals inside the residence that were unharmed when the shooting took place.

Two of the three teenagers were transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to survive. A third victim, age 17, was airlifted to a Chicago area hospital in critical condition. It appears that this incident was a targeted attack and an isolated incident. The suspect(s) discharged firearm(s) into a specific window of the residence, striking all three teens.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) with the Will County Sheriff’s Office were summoned to the residence in order to begin investigating this incident.

Sheriff Mike Kelley would like to thank the responding deputies for their quick action and response in applying life saving measures to the three victims. This investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be provided to the public when appropriate.
