Elgin Man Charged With Traveling To Meet Minor In Braidwood

Braiwood police arrested a 21-year old from Elgin has been charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, Grooming and Traveling to meet a minor.

On January 22nd at approximately 12:26am a Braidwood Patrol Unit, while conducting a business/building check observed a suspicious vehicle with two occupants. After making contact with the vehicle, police conducted a brief investigation. The officer learned that the driver, Alexander Carachure, who is 21-years old traveled to Braidwood to meet with a female resident, who he knew to be 14-years old.

During the follow up investigation, it was learned that they met and have been communicating through a popular social media site. During the investigation police worked closely with the Will County State’s Attorney where they obtained three search warrants that were executed. During an interview of Carachure, he made statements implicating himself in the above crimes. Braidwood police would like to thank the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center for their assistance.
