Governor Pritzker Signs Bill To Increase Access To Mental Health Care

A new package of legislation is intended to increase access to mental health care in Illinois. One bill, sponsored by state Senator Laura Fine, requires insurers to cover all medically necessary care for mental, emotional, nervous, and substance abuse disorders. Another new law requires communities to combined 911 with the new 988 service when it comes on line next summer. 988 will be a nationwide mental health crisis hotline.
