Standing Ovation For New Mayor of Joliet

Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy received a standing ovation yesterday as he was sworn in as Mayor of Joliet during a Special Council meeting last night. Mayor D’Arcy started his first speech as mayor, thanking the voters of Joliet for electing him as Mayor and said it will be his honor to serve.

D’Arcy went on to say, “When this journey began last year, I told residents that I wanted to improve Joliet and make it a better place to live, not just for today, but for our tomorrow. We need a place for our young families as well as for our senior citizens, and everyone in between.”

New council members Suzanna Ibarra and Cesar Cardenas were also sworn in. Mayor D’Arcy thanked outgoing mayor Bob O’Dekirk and council members, Bettye Gavin and Terry Morris and wished them well in their next chapter.
