House lawmakers are hearing from Illinois officials about the ongoing process of fighting unemployment benefit fraud. Department of Security Director Kristen Richards spoke at a committee hearing says it’s been a frustrating, uphill battle for her agency. State technology experts say these attacks are happening to several government agencies and that they are working on ways to block out fraudsters with firewalls, a new log-in process for customers, and more advanced identity checks.
