Troy Cronin Elementary School Principal Jill Howard lived up to her word this month when her students won a reading challenge. Howard promised her students that if they read at least 10,000 pages in a two-week period of time, she would read to them from up high in a fire truck bucket. Her students read more than 87,000 pages, so up she went. Howard read, “Gingerbread Man Loose on the Fire Truck,” by Laura Murray to the school’s students. According to Lt. Phillip Morel, of the Troy Fire Department, Howard read from a height of 25-feet, then was lifted to 46-feet as an encore at the request of the students.
